The Police Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed that it will take urgent steps to correct the mistakes made by police officers of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The PSC revealed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday, October 16.
According to the body, which is charged with the responsibility of maintaining discipline within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force, all officers involved in acts of brutality against citizens will be promptly dealt with.
The PSC also confirmed its readiness to work with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in probing the allegations of police brutality.
According to tweets on PSC’s official Twitter handle, this promise was made by the Commission’s chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police.
Smith also assured that the PSC will collaborate and support the NHRC in the promotion of good governance.
