The federal government on Saturday, October 17, directed that Eko and Marine Bridges in Lagos state be reopened from Monday, October 19.
Babatunde Fashola, SAN, the minister of works and housing, gave the directive after urgent repair works were concluded on the bridges, The Nation reports.
Fashola in a statement explained that the approval for the reopening of the completed first phase of the repairs was sequel to the report by the contractor handling the projects.
The minister went on to thank Lagosians for their patience, understanding, and cooperation while sections of the bridges were closed for repairs.
He also directed members of the public should be informed of any restrictions to traffic while work is ongoing on the second phase of the project.
While noting that the completed section of the Eko Bridge (Lagos Island Bound) should be reopened to traffic, Fashola added that work should commence immediately on the Alaka Bound side of the bridge.
