Former senator, Dino Melaye, has reacted to the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Sun reported that Melaye in a statement on Wednesday, October 14, called on the president to rescind the nomination
He described Onochie’s nomination as unconstitutional, an affront on the patience of Nigerians and an insult to the institution of INEC.
Melaye further claimed that Onochie who is President Buhari’s aide on social media is politically biased, being a member of the All Progressives Congress.
He threatened to mobilise Nigerians to challenge the president’s decision if he fails to withdraw Onochie’s nomination.
According to Melaye, Onochie’s nomination violated the constitution which President Buhari swore to uphold at all times.
