2023 Election: I’ll Never Support Zoning – Governor Fayemi
The governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, has responded to calls from many parts of Nigeria for a southeast presidency come 2023 presidential election.
Governor Fayemi, in his opinion, believes that competent Nigerians can be found and chosen from all geopolitical zones of the country.
He said this agitation is coming at this time because many persons believe they have been politically marginalised over the years.
The governor added:
“In a country that is multicultural, multireligious and multiethnic, one of the equilibrating mechanisms is to ensure that those in leadership represent the mosaic that the country is.”
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Sunday, December 6, Fayemi who doubles as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum stated clearly that he does not advocate for the idea of zoning.
“I am not an advocate of zoning…I’m also of the view that excellent Nigerians come from all parts of the country – Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on zoning presidency to the Southeast in 2023.”
