Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa local government of Ondo state is currently under siege as hoodlums took to the street to destroy government properties.
The hoodlums took over the town over the widespread EndSARS protest.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with Legit.ng, the hoodlums have destroyed the local government secretariat and the police station.
The witness said trouble started when police attempted to enforce the curfew imposed by the state governor on some angry youths.
Also, they attacked the Correctional Service (former Nigerian Prison) in the town and released all the prisoners.
They were said to have however left the staff untouched.
In a related development, the Nigerian Correctional Service in Ikoyi, Lagos was attacked by suspected hoodlums.
Facilities at the prisons were torched as the hoodlums made attempts to break into prison cells.
“The prison is on fire, everyone running for safety now,” the Cable reports, quoting a source.
Videos and photos from the attempted jailbreak have been circulating on social media.
